Activists and residents from Worcester this weekend will demand the Northwestern District Attorney’s office drop charges against against a former city councilor who confronted federal immigration agents and police in May.

WORCESTER – The city has issued 738 parking tickets and towed 418 vehicles following the winter storm that brought nearly 2 feet of snow to the region between Sunday, Jan. 25, and Monday night, Jan. 26.
Vice Chairman Khrystian E. King held the order twice over concerns about the real estate developer that broke the city's responsible development ordinance, was handed a $5,000 fine and also faced accusations of wage theft. King said holding the item allowed the city additional time to have discussions with the Menkiti Group about the tax exemption.
On Feb. 2, Worcester will celebrate Groundhog Day by checking if the EcoTarium’s groundhog, Cornelia, sees her shadow. This year, however, the ceremony is invitation-only due to Groundhog Day taking place on a Monday — the day the EcoTarium is typically closed.
“Worcester Public Schools consults with city and public safety officials when deciding whether to hold school during winter weather. The district closely monitors current and forecasted conditions, including snow and ice accumulation, road safety, and the ability to safely transport students,” the district stated.
On the first day back to school since the weekend storm, several school buses became stuck in the snow in Worcester.
