Thanks for your suggestions. I decided to add the option to choose either speech or sounds effects as the auditory prompt for scanning. If your focus is to teach auditory scanning then the speech is useful as it decribes what is 'in' each cell, but I do agree that the activity has more potential for wider learning with sound effects.
